The Municipality of Blagoevgrad will host the prestigious festival “Les francofolies”. After the successful negotiations that we had with representatives of the festival in La Rochelle Gerard Pont and Frederick Charpail, “Francofolies de Bulgarie a Blagoevgrad” will be revived after a long break and exclusive rights as they are were earned by the Municipality of Blagoevgrad.
From 24 to 26 September 2015 “Les francofolies” is back in Blagoevgrad after 22 years break. This is the largest francophone music festival which is held in La Rochelle – France from 33 years.
In 1991 “Francofolie” is held for the first time in Bulgaria – Blagoevgrad. The festival has three editions in the country – in 1991, 1992 and 1993 and passed with unprecedented success. On the stage at the festival are singing world famous artists such as Celine Dion, Charles Aznavour, Daniel Lavoie, Veronique Sanson. He became a platform for international cultural exchange.
22 years later The Municipality of Blagoevgrad sets the ambitious task to resume this important international cultural event, and give him a new life, as it becomes the largest francophone festival in Southwest Europe.
With “Francofolies” will start and the cultural program, preparing and accompanying Bulgarian presidency of Europe in 2019.
In 2015 “Francofolies Blagoevgrad” will be a three-day outdoor festival on the square “Georgi Izmirliev” and will allow Bulgarian and Balkan audience to get acquainted with the creativity of some of the most iconic artists of the Francophone world. There are both outdoor concerts of the big stars of the French stage, and reinforcing young singers and DJs. The artistic program will involve artists such as Patricia Kaas, Patrick Bruel, Bob Sinklar, Soprano, Kyo, Feder, Caravan Palace, Christophe Willem for three nights. Bulgarian artists will participate in the program every night. Our ambition is in the next edition of the Francophonie in La Rochelle to participate and Bulgarian artist.
The festival provides an accompanying cultural program popularizing French culture, cuisine and traditions. The event has already been announced in the French media and provides during the “Francofolie Blagoevgrad” in Bulgaria to arrive a group of French journalists to spread the festival, which will be an additional advertisement of Bulgaria too.
